Just thought I would let my friends in Group 1 know that my published book, "Sammy Squirrel and the Sunflower Seeds," was re-written as a stage play and entered in a new play contest here in Tyler. I was notified Wednesday night that mine was one of six plays chosen to be "read" at the theater! All that means is that several of the (amateur) actors who perform at the theater will sit on chairs or stools and read the script out loud. There will be no costumes, no props, no scenery. Still, it will be fun to listen to the story as these youngster "perform" it. The reading will take place on Saturday, June 13. It's always fun to share good news!
And now a "Playwright?"(6 posts)
Marvin, that is great!!! I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. Congratulations!
Thanks, Patti. I have created a "brochure" (attached) to post around town in hopes of drawing a lot of kids to hear it. I'll post a follow up report after the reading, but I AM having fun with this book. Now, if I can just get a publisher to give serious consideration to The Day That X Ran Away .....
Bravo, Marvin!!! That is such exciting news! Actually, I think that The Day That X Ran Away would also lend itself nicely to a play adaptation.
On another note, I'll be sending out my manuscript to Group 1 soon. I have been caught in a tailspin recently. Sincere apologies.
By the way, NJCWG has just turned one year old with a celebration in June. Wish you could all join us. Any chance that any of you will be in New Jersey in June?
Again, CONGRATULATIONS, Marvin!
What fun! I can't wait to hear about how it all went when I return from vacation. Congratulations Marvin!
Congrats to the NJCWG! Sorry, but I won't be any where near New Jersey in June or any other time in the foreseeable future. Have a glass of "bubbly" on me!
